A VERY WARM WELCOME to
the family and friends of Emily Ann Langner who is being baptised at St Paul’s
today.
Easter Eggs for the Roundabout Hostel
for homeless young people. Thanks for all the Easter Eggs for
Roundabout! We are getting medium sized eggs,
to ensure that they all get the same sized eggs! There’s a box in the clergy vestry which is
filling up nicely. Thank you.
From Foodbank Thank
you for your support to our foodbank at Gleadless Valley. Where would we be
without you all?
We have an abundance of most food stuff but a serious shortage of the following items:
We have an abundance of most food stuff but a serious shortage of the following items:
Pasta Sauces, Tinned fruit, Noodles,
Sugar,
Juice (squash), Red and Brown
sauces and things
that might be classed as "treats".
From
Murray Have you asked
for people to be included on the Prayer Focus over the page? There will be people we will want to be
reminded to continue praying for (and if I have removed someone like this
please let me know) but there are quite a few names I don’t know and I don’t
know how to pray for them. Could you have
a think about whether we still need names on the list and if they can come off
let Cathy or me know please. Thank you.
THANK YOU! The cake and craft
stall on Mothering Sunday raised a whopping £160 for our windows appeal! Thank you everyone for your generosity and to
Liz, Dorothy and Brenda for making cards, and for the hours spent knitting all
those chicks to fill with chocolate eggs.
Many thanks also to the people who baked or brought cakes and buns to
sell.
Joy
Ryalls has also very kindly donated a lovely drawing she’s done, to help us
raise further funds for the windows. If it has caught your eye, we will be
holding a raffle shortly with tickets at £1.00 per strip of five. If church
members would like to show it to other groups they take part in, it would be
much appreciated. Thank you

CUPBOARDS IN CHURCH Owing to pressure for cupboard space all
around church, we ask that people remove/take home any equipment that you or
your group don’t currently use please. The unclaimed contents of the lost
property basket will shortly be recycled, so may we remind you to check that
too? Thank you
CRAFT CUPBOARD Thank you to
Jacqui, Barbara, Liz & Mike who tidied the UH Craft Cupboard & enjoyed
a bottle of wine & nibbles last Thursday.
CHILDREN’S
TROLLEY Who
can offer to take responsibility for keeping the children’s trolley which is
used each Sunday tidy and well equipped please? It is in a terrible state at
the moment and is hardly welcoming for families. Once it has been sorted
it should only take a few minutes each Sunday to keep it tidy. New items
can easily be acquired so we are not expecting whoever volunteers to provide
things. Please let Ann know if you can do this.

THANKS FROM
MARGARET WARDILL’S FAMILY We wanted to tell
you how much we appreciated Mom's funeral on Thursday. It was just as she
would have wanted it, and hit exactly the right note for us, and for our
family. We all felt that we were able to grieve and celebrate Granny in a
way that felt right and appropriate. We also warmly appreciated the support
from within the parish, feeling that all those who knew her were standing
shoulder to shoulder with us, a real and moving tribute to her personal
qualities.

From Murray How are you getting on using The Lord’s
Prayer more regularly this Lent? I have
stuck my bookmark on the wall where I pray and am finding using it very
helpful. The word that I connect with
most is the first one (strangely!) ‘Our’.
As we pray we are not on our own, we are sharing with a great network of
Christian people all over this country and all around the world. More than that we are joining with God in the
act of prayer as his Holy Spirit breathes in us and prays through us.

From Murray I am only now realising how stressful it has
been to have the heating system playing up for so long. A pump failed in mid-December causing a
complete shutdown and though it was repaired it remained faulty until January
when it gave up all together. However, it
was never the disaster it could have been!
Thank you Lord!
MESSY CHURCH AT
EASTER for families with children will be held on Good Friday, 3rd
April. Instead of our usual light lunch,
we will be having hot cross buns and finishing a little earlier at 12 noon. Leaders/helpers to arrive for 9.30 am,
families for 10.30 am please.

PEEKABOO AT ST PAUL’S We thought you’d like to know that we were recently told of some very
positive and welcome reviews. People have posted comments on Netmums, Facebook
& the NCT websites, such as a ‘lovely, vibrant group’, ‘best in the area’
and also commented on the way that the furniture is organised to accommodate
newborns & their parents, which people feel is much safer than other groups
they’ve attended. There was also praise for the refreshment makers. Thank you
all!
CUPBOARDS IN CHURCH Owing to pressure for cupboard space all
around church, we ask that people remove/take home any equipment that you or
your group don’t currently use please. (If you’re not sure about items that
have been put in your usual storage area, please ask before disposing of them,
as they may belong to another of our groups.) Hopefully it will help us to make
decisions about which items we should get PAT tested. The unclaimed contents of
the lost property basket will shortly be recycled, so may we remind you to
check that too? Thank you

FOOD BANK UPDATE
Last
week was very busy with 25 vouchers and massive 512kg of food given out. St Paul’s contributed 31kg. Robert heard awful stories of families whose
money had been stopped and had either not eaten so that their children could,
or had the dilemma of heating or eating.
They had a lovely text from a client thanking them for their kindness
and saying they were looking forward to giving their children a really good
meal.
There
is a lovely article by Pete about Robert’s work which you can find on the
Diocesan website: www.sheffield.anglican.org/faith-stories/salt-and-light-link-rep
or by clicking through from the front page.

From Murray
I tried to book a day at Longshaw for this spring but find that the
main carpark will be closed for renovation which will make access very
difficult, so I will try to book something for later in the year.
Lovely to see the first daffs out and poignant to see those planted around
church by John Brown.
