1914 – 2014 CENTENARY - CELEBRATION EVENTS
2014 marks a
very special year of Centenary Celebrations for the Diocese of Sheffield. Please
see the church notice boards for Sunday afternoon events from May to November.
Each of the celebrations will begin around
2.00 pm and
end about 5.00 pm, and will include some bible teaching from Bishop Steven, an
act of Worship, activities for all stages, and picnics (bring your own!) and
refreshments.
GUIDES Contact Karen Stevenson if you are interested in
helping Guides, please see “What’s on” for details. You’d be supported by
experienced members of our uniformed organisations, & the gift of your time
would be of great benefit to young people locally. Thanks

The
next Question! Questions! Series
At the moment I
have pencilled in Wednesday evenings after Easter starting on 30th
April and running through to 18th June (though we could have a break
for half term). Please let me know ASAP
if you would prefer the series on Thursday evenings or in the daytime instead.
Questions!
Questions! is a must for everyone new to St Paul’s but longer term members
are equally welcome. It will also prepare
you for Confirmation – the next service being on 29th September at
St Chad’s.
A
sleepover with the Bishop!
This week a group
of clergy will be descending on Whirlow Grange conference centre for two days
with Bishop Steven. Bishop Steven has
based this series on a paper he wrote about evangelism after attending a
gathering of Roman Catholic Bishops exploring the subject last year. This week is about Catechesis – which might
sound like something that happens to our feline friends, but fortunately is
explained as ‘teaching the faith to enquirers’.
The week suited my
diary but I am also very interested in the subject because that is what the Questions!
Questions! series is about. So I hope
that I will be learning from the Bishop and others who run similar series and
also to share some of the things which I have found to be important.
Do pray for us as
we gather it is an important time for getting to know other clergy and, as
their will be around 30 of us, to get to know people from different traditions
of the church from our own. Bishop
Steven is also very good at teaching and encouraging us in a very relaxed and
unthreatening way. – I will let you know how I get on!!
