TARTING SOON! PILGRIM SERIES A series of reflections on what it means to ‘turn to Christ’ – words used in the Baptism Service. There are leaflets about Pilgrim at the back of church and a signup sheet if you want to attend.  It starts on Thurs 23rd Oct and last six weeks (Last session Nov 26th.) A useful course booklet costs £5.99.

TONIGHT! YOUTH PRAISE There is a combined service of youth praise being held at St Peter’s Greenhill on Sunday 12th October at 7.00 pm.  This is being organised by Nick Seaman (youth worker at St Chad’s) along with youth work volunteers from across the churches.  It would be great if you could let any teenagers connected with us at
St Paul’s know about this.  The plan at the moment is to do a similar event every couple of months.

REMINDER FOR YOUR DIARY
CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL & FAYRE: NOV 22ND St Paul’s Christmas Tree Festival & Fayre will be held this year from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm on 22nd November.   Please can church members start collecting items for the tombola (worth at least £1.00) and books for the book stall. There will be a box out in church to put them in a little nearer the date. Thank you

SONGS FOR CHRISTMAS  At St Paul's Church & Centre
on Saturday November 29th at 7.15 pm,  Olive Walker presents "Songs for Christmas" performed by the Sheaf Singers. Tickets £5.00, available from Ken Smith 0114 250 7914, or the office 0114 2550144, or pay on the door.

1ST WEDNESDAY GROUP  will be making cards for bereaved families on Wednesday 5th November if you’d like to help out? Please see Jacqui.  A meal out is planned in place of the meeting on 3rd December.

CHURCH DUTY ROTA Shortly we will be preparing the church rota for November to  January.  If you know you will be away/unavailable at any point during that time please let Cathy have the Sundays you are not available.  Send an email to Cathy (cathy.stpauls@btinternet.com) or leave a note for her in the church office by Sunday 19th October.  After that it is much easier if you arrange your own swaps.  Most people’s phone numbers are on the top of the rota sheet or see people on a Sunday and then let Barbara Hicks (b.hicks36@tiscali.co.uk) know.

PLEASE SWITCH OFF!  When he’s been arranging furniture in church, Robert has noticed that increasingly, groups are leaving things switched on when they leave. Please encourage people to check all doors, the oven, the plinth heaters/fans in the main kitchen and of course, lights. You will know if you’ve left them on somewhere as the two central Nave lights will remain on. Thank you
MOVING FURNITURE IN CHURCH?  Please look at the notices in each room indicating what should be where, & return chairs and tables to where they came from. Thanks

M.U.  On November 12th, our Mothers’ Union will be busy with crafts and planning their contribution to the Christmas Tree Festival & Fayre.  M.U. ADVENT SERVICE The M.U. Advent Service in the Nave with refreshments in the Meeting Place afterwards, is scheduled for Wednesday 10th December.  More details to follow.

OUR NEXT MESSY CHURCH  for families with children is on Saturday 8th November at 10.30 am.  Christingle Messy Church will be held on Saturday 13th December.

DIOCESAN CENTENARY EUCHARIST   with the Archbishop of York at Sheffield Cathedral on Sunday 23rd November at 4.00pm.  Please see Murray if you would like to go.

EVENTS AT BISHOPS’ HOUSE  Please pick up a flyer in church for the new season of events at the Bishops’ House.  After John’s History Talk this week, the next event will be “Music for an Autumn Eve” with The Gamebirds & Black Velvet Clarinet Quartet on Saturday  18th October at 7.30 pm.  £7.00 admission on the door.

FOODBANK UPDATE  Another busy session with 22 vouchers processed;  there were lots of families this week. 408kg of food given out but only 258kg received.
