CONFIRMATION 2012  We have the go ahead for a Confirmation Service with The Bishop of Sheffield on Wednesday 19th September at 7.30 pm. We will be joined by candidates from other local churches but anyone who would like to be confirmed should have a word with Murray (it will be a few years before we have another Confirmation service here at St Paul’s.)

DIOCESAN EVENT An eight week course called Foundations of Faith begins soon on Tuesday evenings starting on 17th January at St Mary’s Bramall Lane.  It will look at ‘Using the Bible’, ‘The History of the Church’, ‘Worship’ and ‘Ethics’.  Please see Murray for more information.

NEW GROUP “Lose the Blues” is a new support group especially for those suffering from post natal depression. Following the success of the Hillsborough Mum & Baby Group, this small group will be run by Home –Start Sheffield and will be held every Monday from 1-3.00 pm in The Upper Hall. Home-Start has been providing support and friendship for families for 30 years. They aim to give children the best possible start in life, by supporting parents to grow in confidence and develop and strengthen their relationship with their children. Emotional support is provided to help parents to find ways to manage and resolve problems. Home-Start (not to be confused with Surestart!) hopes to start the new group here at St Paul’s on Monday 16th January.

From Murray
I put something on here just before Christmas about my leading a Questions! Questions! series during Lent.  This will be on Wednesday evenings February 29th, March 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th in the Meeting Place.

I would encourage anyone who has not been to Questions! Questions! to think seriously about coming as it is important material, which I have put together over many years in ministry.  It will be especially important for anyone who would like to be Confirmed on Wednesday 19th September when Bishop Steven will be coming to    St Paul’s.  (We will also have a few more sessions a bit later on just for those wanting to be Confirmed, so that you can get to know each other and we can think about things specific to Confirmation).  Also if you want to be Confirmed, but can’t make Wednesday evenings, let me know ASAP!

If you have attended Questions! Questions! before it would still be good to come along. I will be going through the material pretty speedily in order to fit most of it into the five sessions and it always feels different when you go through it will different people.  I could also do with a few people who have done the series before to look after smaller groups from time to time.  (This will depend a bit on numbers, but I am thinking of doing some of the sessions all together and some in smaller groups.)  It is also important for everyone at St Paul’s to know what happens at Questions! Questions! so that you can invite others to take part in it when I lead it again in the future.
