FOCUS SERVICE: SHEFFIELD CHURCH

As a church, we at St Paul’s support the Focus Service. This support can take the form of donations to help the running cost of Focus Service. There are envelopes available to allow for a monthly regular gift to Focus Service. If you would like a set of envelopes for 2012, please contact Peter Franklin. Thank you.

LENT REMINDER One of the groups coming to the Lent Questions! Questions! has offered to provide a meal for us on the first week (Wed 29^th Feb at 7.30 pm) – Murray will need to know the number of people who will be coming a.s.a.p.!!

TEARFUND For members of the congregation who donate each month to what used to be Sponsored Children; you may remember that for the past few years a proportion of the money has been sent to The Shelter of Hope in Zimbabwe.  Now that St Paul’s is no longer supporting the Shelter, all the funds you donate will be sent to Tearfund for their Children at Risk programme. BEAUCHIEF ABBEY LENT LECTURES 2012 The 5 weekly lectures begin at 7.00 pm on Wed 29^th Feb at St Andrew’s Psalter Lane Church. LENT 2012 – THE LORD’S PRAYER   Five evenings exploring how to pray – Wednesdays 29^th Feb, then 7^th, 14^th, 21^st & 28^th March at 7.30 pm at Sheffield Cathedral. All very welcome.

CONFIRMATION 2012 We have the go ahead for a Confirmation Service with The Bishop of Sheffield on Wednesday 19^th September at 7.30 pm. We will be joined by candidates from other local churches but anyone who would like to be confirmed should have a word with Murray (it will be a few years before we have another Confirmation service here at St Paul’s.)

M.U.  The Lady Day Service this year will be held at Doncaster Minster at 3.00 pm on Sun 25^th March 2012

THE PADLEY PILGRIMAGE  - an interdiocesan

pilgrimage in honour of the Padley Martyrs, Blessed Robert Ludlam and Blessed Nicholas Garlick on Sunday 15^th July (Assemble 3.00 pm at Grindleford Station, Mass commences at 3.30 pm.) The speaker will be Ann Widdicombe ex-minister and MP. You are also welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere of this historic building. Padley Chapel will be open Wednesday and Sunday from March 25^th to September 30^th between 2.00 and 4.00 pm. Further historical details and directions on the church notice board.
