HARRISON’S BAPTISM – THANK YOU  Murray received this thank you from Mark:
“Claire, Carrie, Harrison, Callum and I would like to thank you for today - it was a very special. We felt very supported by you all, and would like to thank all those who helped with the service (even that bloke with the black eye who led the service!) and those who helped before and after with the buffet. Claire and I were very tired and this extra help was very much appreciated. Can we also pass on the lovely comments our family and friends made about how wonderful the Church looks and how friendly and welcoming the service and the people at church were.

COMING SOON! HARVEST MESSY CHURCH will be next weekend on Saturday 13th October from 10 am to 12 noon, and will be followed by a light lunch until about 12.30 pm.  It’s a morning for families with children, including art & craft activities. (A contribution of £1 per person is invited to cover the costs of materials and food.) Volunteers are urgently needed - please see Ann or Pete or telephone 2551945 if you would like to come and help out with crafts, refreshments (or even washing up or tidying up afterwards!) Thank you

DECEMBER MESSY CHURCH This year we are thinking of combining December Messy Church with our Christingle, and again helpers are required please. Don’t forget to put the date in your diary – Saturday 15th December at 10.00 am.  Reminder - Murray would like feedback about doing Christingles at Messy Church today so we can talk about it at PCC on Tuesday.

CRAFT CUPBOARD – UPPER HALL Everyone’s welcome to use the craft materials in the store cupboard, but please try to leave everything tidy, and make sure small children are accompanied when they choose materials. Jacqui does her best to sort everything out several times a year, but it would help enormously if you could remove anything belonging to your group that’s no longer needed. Thank you.

AUTUMN MEMORIAL SERVICE The service will be held  at 6.00 pm on Sunday 14th October. If you would like to remember a loved one, even if you do not require an invitation, please let us have all the names to be read out, either by e-mail or in writing.  Please hand them to Murray or the office by Monday 8th October at the latest.  Thank you

CHURCH HARVEST SUPPER will be held on Friday 19th October.  It will be a very "harvesty" menu with chunky vegetable soups and crusty bread, cheese board and pate followed by comforting puddings e.g. apple pie or fruit crumble with custard. Flyers available in church. Please see Liz or Margaret for more information.

PEACE AND CRAFT FAIR – Sat 3rd Nov at Sheffield Town Hall from 11.00 am to 4.30 pm. Ethical and affordable festive gifts, campaigning and voluntary groups, live music & singing, plus refreshments. Entry £1 for adults, children free Call 0114 2818775

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL/CHRISTMAS FAYRE  Don’t forget to save Saturday 24th November too, when it will be our first Christmas Tree Festival and Christmas Fayre which we are holding jointly with Talbot School. Any profits will be shared. The W.I. will do a cake stall and a tree. Jean will be having a stall for jams and preserves, if you’d like to start making them now please. (Jean can provide cooking apples, raspberries and blackberries.) Peekaboo have also agreed to do a tree. What about your group?  If you have any ideas or you’d like to do something to mark the occasion, please see Liz (Wa.)

“VINE TIME” SERVICES will be held on the 3rd Sunday of the month.  The service will be held in The Old Vestry on the occasions when it clashes with Focus Service. All welcome – please see Jacqui if you think you might like to come, or just turn up on the night.

Prayer Focus:
We continue to pray for all those who have been recently bereaved, those who are ill and all those who care for them

From Murray:
Two weeks ago we had a great Back to Church Sunday service at 10 am.  Thank you to all who made a special effort, I felt that there was a great atmosphere.

The thing we will have to improve on is how we invite people along! It may be that you did invite people and they could not or did not want to come. I certainly intended to invite a number of wedding couples who I have got to know well – but with the Confirmation to organise I just did not have the time.

Sharing our faith is one of the most basic things that Jesus calls us to do. So, how can we help each other to do it more naturally and effectively? Is Back to Church Sunday the best way to do it or might it be better to try other ways? Do have a think and a pray about all this and let me know your feeling and ideas. We need to work on this together!
