Questions! Questions!
Murray is delighted that people are wanting to do
the Questions! Questions! course so he is trying to sort out times.
The first (he hopes) will be on Thursday evenings starting on April 11th
and running through most of May.
Following that he will be leading a course in
June and July on a Wednesday evenings.
Rather than doing one in the autumn he is now
thinking of doing the second part of Questions! Questions! on Tuesday mornings as an extra Communion
and Fellowship series probably in June – more details soon!
The next local Confirmation service will be on
Monday 23rd September at St James’ Norton at 7.30 pm.
CHURCH RETREAT
DAY Last Sunday morning Murray mentioned that he
was planning a day at a centre near Huddersfield on a Saturday in May. Unfortunately the PCC did not support the
idea so the day is cancelled. Sorry to
those who were interested in coming. Murray is thinking of a different way of
organising a similar day later in the year.
ELECTORAL ROLL This year we have to completely redo our
roll so please fill in a form and return it to Murray or leave it for him in
the church office.
EASTER EGGS
FOR ROUNDABOUT It is time to start collecting eggs for the
homeless young people. Please buy medium
sized eggs so that they all get the same!
And leave them in the small vestry.

From Murray
Last
week we had a meeting of our clergy chapter.
This is a meeting of all the Church of England clergy in this ‘Deanery’
area of Ecclesall in Sheffield.
This
time we met at Wilson Carlisle College in town which is the home of the Church
Army (people like Keith Blinston who is one of the leaders of the Focus
Church). Church Army evangelists go
there for training and it is also where the Diocesan School of Ministry takes
place, where Pete and Gail do their training.
We met
two women who work with Church Army in Sheffield supporting sex workers in the
Pitsmoor area. They spoke movingly about
the way they care for women who have been battered and broken by life and cling
to abusive relationships because of
their low self-esteem. They now have a
house where these women can enjoy a family meal, a warm bath and place to
pray. They call it their church and love
to be able to go there.
