OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES Here’s a reminder to start looking round for the things to put in. This year the organisers have suggested that because the Olympics are going to be in the UK next year, we might like to do Sports themed boxes.
Make your shoebox sports-themed
There are several ways you can give your shoebox an Olympic twist this year…
GIFTS: Along with gifts you would usually send, you might want to include a tennis ball, skipping rope, baseball hat, small football, inflatable beach ball, stop watch, sweat bands, toy medals or some other sports-related gift that would bring a smile to a child!
BOX: You could even decorate your shoebox with Olympic stickers, drawings or try and get hold of special Olympics wrapping paper (if indeed such a thing exists!)
MESSAGE: You might want to add a message to your child, stating that the shoebox has come from the home of the next Olympics and that you hope they enjoy the sports items you’ve included in your box for them to play with. If people want to go online, the address is www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/ .

REMINDER!! CHURCH GARDEN Many thanks to John Brown who has put in an enormous amount of work to tidy the grounds. Please take a look at John’s plan (in church) to help us maintain the garden and do sign up to give your support if you have an hour free each month. Many of the plots are small and you would only need to come and weed occasionally. (The grass will continue to be cut by Robert.) For more info. see John or Ken.
NEXT TALBOT SCHOOL SERVICES are at 2 pm on Sundays 9th Oct & 4th Dec. If anyone would like to help with refreshments at either service, please see Jacqui.

NOTICES, LINK ETC. The office would be pleased to know your views or receive emails regarding the amount of paper we hand out on Sundays. It would be good to reduce the number of sheets we give out, but we want to continue the things you’re most interested in, so please let us know your preferences. Thank you.

Autumn is upon us and it is not long now until our Harvest Festival Family Worship on Sunday 16th October. As before we will be hearing about the work of Tearfund and supporting the work of Roundabout who provide shelter, support and life skills for homeless young people in Sheffield. Please bring non perishable food which can be given to young people to make their own meals. Tinned food seems to be a special favourite!
