THIS WEEK! QUIZ AID is on Tuesday 14th May at 7.30 pm at The Cross Scythes. All welcome!
BISHOP STEVEN’S 10 DAYS OF PRAYER This year, to mark the 10 Days of Prayer, the church will be open for
half an hour from 6.30 pm each day from Thurs 9th to Sat 18th May
inclusive. There will be quiet music
playing in the Meeting Place (which will be warm) and we will have another
prayer place in the chancel chapel with candles to light and a table for prayer
reminders. (But it will be cool up
there!) Please bring things to put on
the table which will remind others to pray for people and things important to
you.
WEAR RED FOR PENTECOST! Our 10.00 am
service at Pentecost is Family Worship this year. We will focus on the gifts God gives to us
and how we can use them for his glory. Murray
would also like you to wear red to celebrate the gift of God’s Holy
Spirit. Depending on the weather we may
finish the service with a fire outside with a few songs and prayers, and if we
do go out we will also have another Pentecost church photo as we did last year.
PENTECOST EVE MESSY CHURCH @ ST PAUL’S will be on Saturday 18th May from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm.
It’s a morning for families with children, and includes art and craft
activities, a short creative worship time and a light lunch. A contribution of
£1 per person is invited to cover the cost of craft materials and food. For
more information ring 0114 2551945 or email messychurchstpauls@gmail.com You can also visit http://messychurchstpauls.blogspot.co.uk
TOMATO PLANTS FOR SALE Please give
your support to the sale of fruit and vegetables in aid of St Paul’s Fabric
Fund. (Our church windows have deteriorated badly over the winter months and
are in need of urgent repair work.) There will be tomato plants for sale
shortly and courgettes and runner beans in the weeks to come. Thank you
1st WEDNESDAY The group
will be watching a DVD at their June meeting, entitled “Christians in Pompeii”
and will be having a meal out in July. Please see Jacqui for details.
BOB HARTMAN You are warmly invited to
an evening for children and families with Bob Hartman, author and much loved
performance story teller for children, at Christ Church, Pitsmoor on Friday 7th
June from 6.30 pm - 8.00 pm. Contact: jenny.lambourne@sheffield.anglican.org
for further details or phone 01709 309144
SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS There’s a box
at the back of church if you’d like to donate your Sainsbury’s Active Kids
Vouchers again this year. In previous years, the appeal has provided fantastic
equipment for St Paul’s Beavers. Thank you everyone who’s donated already.
FLOWER ARRANGING DEMONSTRATION To raise some
much needed funds for church flowers, Liz Edwards has very kindly offered to do
a demonstration of flower arranging for us. Liz is thinking of a Monday evening
event. Could people interested please let Deidre know if this is a good time?
Thank you
M.U. IN JUNE The topic will be The Emmaus Society.
RATTLE & ROLL – Musical fun
classes for children 0-4 years. Anne Connolly is now back at work following the
safe arrival of her new baby daughter, Minnie. Please tell your family and friends about
these sessions which are fun, energetic and full of music and dance. (The
children especially like the bubble and parachute sessions.) You’ll find Anne
in the OV at 11.00 am on Tuesdays during term time. New members are very
welcome! Leaflets in church.
Mike’s Ministry:
Sun 12th – Matlock Methodist (B.B.)
SATS Week – (No assemblies)
Sun 19th – Pentecost - St Paul’s 8.00 am H.C.
& Beauchief Abbey
Prayer Focus:
We
continue to pray for those who are bereaved, are ill and those who care for
them
From Murray
I hear good reports of the Christian Aid walk on Monday, it was
certainly fantastic weather! If you have
not sponsored anyone and would like to do so I am sure you can do so
retrospectively. We have not made too
much of it because we want to get money from outside church to go Christian
Aid, but of course contributions are always welcome. I will be showing a couple of short videos
about the work of Christian Aid at our 10 am service this week – it is so
encouraging to hear of their work.
Remember that now we don’t have a time in the year when we give to
Tearfund, you can still do so by joining the scheme which Pam Yates looks
after.
Do please take part in the
ten days of prayer! I gave out leaflets last week
and will have more this week. Pray at
home, or come to church at 6.30 each evening this week to pray with others and
contribute to the prayer table in the chancel to remind others of things to
pray for.
