Please use the cupboard doors by the font to put up Christmas cards to all your friends at St Paul’s.  You could even give a donation to the windows fund for the cards you won’t have to buy!!

CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS   At this Sunday’s Carol Service, and the Christmas Eve 6.00 pm and Midnight Services, the collection will be for the Children's Society and for HARC – Homeless and Rootless at Christmas.

2015 MEETING DATES  If you haven’t yet let us know the date when your group will return to St Paul’s in January, please do so. Likewise if you haven’t given us your meeting dates for heating purposes, billing etc., a written or emailed list of dates is really helpful please. (It’s much better than just telling us the frequency of your meetings and saves Joan having to count them out for every group.) Please pass your list to Joan Howlett, or leave it at the office. If you know of dates when you will be unavailable for the next church duty rota, please also let us know. Thank you

BETH AND MATTHEW would like to thank everyone for all the cards, presents and prayers following Emily's birth. We have felt God's love surrounding us.

THANK YOUS! We are very pleased to have added significantly to the fund for replacing the damaged windows. Although we still have quite a way to go, thanks are due to everyone who worked so hard to make the following Christmas events such a success.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL & FAYRE:  A big thank you to everyone who gave their time, moved furniture, decorated trees, baked, donated goods & manned the stalls. £964 was raised towards our windows appeal.

THE SHEAF SINGERS CONCERT raised a further £420, so thanks to Ken for all his hard work in organising it, all the refreshment makers, and to everyone who came to support the event.

Thanks also to those who supported ‘HOLLY DAYS, the floral demonstration evening, and particularly to Liz Edwards for giving her time once again. There’s an additional £200 to be added to the fabric fund from this event.

FLORAL TRIBUTES If anyone has an occasion to celebrate (anniversaries etc.) and would like to have flowers put in church, please see Deidre, who will be happy to receive your donation for flowers & make your arrangement for you.

POPPY APPEAL The Royal British Legion has thanked us for raising £59.61 with the sale of poppies in the lead up to Remembrance Day.
BABY BASICS based at The King’s Centre Church aims to provide some of the basics needed for life with a new-born to women in Sheffield.  Baby Basics works with midwives & health visitors to provide much needed items and help for teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence and trafficking. For a list of items needed in the Starter Packs, please see the flyer on the church notice board if you feel that you’d like to help, or telephone 0114 2507277 or email BabyBasics@kingscentreonline.com

SALES OF CHRISTMAS CARDS have raised £55.00 for church funds.

FOODBANK UPDATE
There were more clients this week (19 vouchers) though there is still a problem over the issuing of vouchers.  Clients had gone to the CAB on London Road but they had run out of vouchers.  Another client just caught them in time and had survived on biscuits for two days after benefit sanctions.  Robert had a new volunteer shadowing him which felt very positive.  St Paul’s supplied 35kg of food.

Mike’s Ministry this week:
Sun 21st – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 8.00 am
                  – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 10.00 am
Tues 23rd – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 10.00 am
Sun 28th – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 8.00 am
-        St Paul’s Holy Communion – 10.00 am

From Murray
Here we are with Christmas nearly upon us again.  What are you looking forward to most in the next couple of days?  What is it that makes Christmas so special for you?  And, how could you help make Christmas special for someone else? The answers will be different for each of us, but the questions might be worth pondering.  Happy Christmas and thank you for the cards and good wishes.  From Ann and Murray

Confirmation in 2015
In recent years we have shared Confirmation Services with St James’ and St Chad’s – and we thought it was a good system going!  But our Bishops have now decided to only do one Confirmation Service each year in each of the Deaneries.  This year our Deanery Confirmation will be Tuesday evening 12th May at St Mary’s Bramall Lane.  I am sorry if you were hoping for a service at St Paul’s this year.  However, to be fair some of the Confirmation services for our group of churches have not been very well attended so it is understandable.
If you are interested in being Confirmed this year have a word with Murray.  If you have not yet done a Questions! Questions! series, all is not lost, we could work something out if you have a chat!

From Murray
Last week I met with the vicars of St Peter’s, St James’ St Chad’s and the new curate of St Chad’s at the S17 Café in Bradway.  It was good to meet up again and chat about things.  We concluded that our working together within the Mission Partnership should focus around worshipping together, encouraging people in their mission and ministry and bring together leaders of our churches to share vision.  We have planned joint services for Ash Wednesday and Ascension Day and a meeting for PCCs and Leadership Groups in April which will be held at St Paul’s.  It will take time to work out how God is calling us to work together and discover the gifts and talents we have within our churches which might be shared but it’s good to have made a start.
