From Murray
I have just got back from our Carol Service at Holmwood which was a wonderful occasion as always.  However, I am sounding a little hoarse already and I have lots more Carol Services to go!

Please use the cupboard doors by the font to put up Christmas cards to all your friends at St Paul’s.  You could even give a donation to the windows fund for the cards you won’t have to buy!!

BETH AND MATTHEW would like to thank everyone for all the cards, presents and prayers following Emily's birth. We have felt God's love surrounding us.

THANK YOUS! We are very pleased to have added significantly to the fund for replacing the damaged windows. Although we still have quite a way to go, thanks are due to everyone who worked so hard to make the following Christmas events such a success.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL & FAYRE:  A big thank you to everyone who gave their time, moved furniture, decorated trees, baked, donated goods & manned the stalls. £964 was raised towards our windows appeal.

THE SHEAF SINGERS CONCERT raised a further £420, so thanks to Ken for all his hard work in organising it, all the refreshment makers, and to everyone who came to support the event.

Thanks also to those who supported ‘HOLLY DAYS, the floral demonstration evening, and particularly to Liz Edwards for giving her time once again. There’s an additional £200 to be added to the fabric fund from this event.

FLORAL TRIBUTES If anyone has an occasion to celebrate (anniversaries etc.) and would like to have flowers put in church, please see Deidre, who will be happy to receive your donation for flowers & make your arrangement for you.

CHRISTMAS CARDS IN CHURCH   Jacqui has put a box of Christmas cards in the Meeting Place which are from Leprosy Mission.  All money received from card sales goes to church funds.

POPPY APPEAL The Royal British Legion has thanked us for raising £59.61 with the sale of poppies in the lead up to Remembrance Day.

BABY BASICS based at The King’s Centre Church aims to provide some of the basics needed for life with a new-born to women in Sheffield.  Baby Basics works with midwives & health visitors to provide much needed items and help for teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence and trafficking. For a list of items needed in the Starter Packs, please see the flyer on the church notice board if you feel that you’d like to help, or telephone 0114 2507277 or email BabyBasics@kingscentreonline.com

MULTI-CHARITY CHRISTMAS CARD SHOP at 46, Chapel Walk until 17th Dec. Cards sold for at least 25 charities – together we can make a big difference!

FOODBANK UPDATE
The gentleman who won the food hamper at St Paul’s Christmas Fayre very kindly donated it to the Food Bank last week, along with half a dozen large bags of food shopping.

At Foodbank they were overwhelmed with over two tons of food collected at Tesco, the most they have ever had and enable them to share some of the food with the S2 Foodbank! However they only processed 7 Vouchers so something has gone wrong with the distribution system.  They are trying out a telephone referral system which is working well at the Doncaster Foodbank.

Mike’s Ministry this week:
Tuesday 16th – Handsworth Christian School
Sunday 21st – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 8.00 am
                  – St Paul’s Holy Communion – 10.00 am

From Murray
Having had the church pretty full for Meersbrook Bank’s Christmas Service it was good to have the church even more packed out at the Scouts District Carol Service.  I put out about 250 chairs and we had about 20 people standing so the church was very full indeed.  There were a lot of Beavers and Cubs, a few Scouts and the rest were Scout Leaders.  It all worked out very well with Ann leading the service, a number of others from our Scout Group taking part and Sue Stocks, who lives on Angerford Avenue and who is now a Beaver Leader, playing the piano.
