TEN DAYS OF PRAYER
Bishop Steven’s Ten Days of Prayer begin at the end of this month on Ascension Day which is Thursday 29th May.  The PCC suggest that this year church groups take the initiative in prayer. So, any group meeting during the 10 days, either in church or at home, should take time to join in the prayers in some way.  Murray will put a signup sheet at the back of church for groups to indicate that they are taking part.  All you need do is say that you will take a bit of time to join in the prayer as part of your meeting, say where you will be meeting and if your meeting will be open to others to join you or not (that is very much up to you – you know the nature of your group!).  We have plenty of 10 Days of Prayer leaflets which have suggested bible readings and prayer topics for each day.  Let’s see a diversity of ways of praying at St Paul’s and around the parish!

From Murray
I know it was while ago now but I did not get the chance to reflect on the Passover Meal we celebrated on Maundy Thursday this year.
It was the first time I had experienced a Passover so I was very grateful to David Rhodes who helped us prepare, lent us some of the equipment we needed and came along to give advice and encouragement during the meal.  I should also say a huge thank you to Ann who rewrote the Passover service sheet in a couple of days the previous weekend.
I found the Passover very moving to lead and it helped me to understand the background to the Communion Service which is so important to us.
The things which hit me most were, first, the wonderful family atmosphere the Passover created.  It really was great a church family event!  The second thing was the perspective it gave on the sufferings of God’s people in Egypt.  I have read the stories in Exodus a number of times, but have tended to focus on God’s power in setting his people free.  By contrast the Passover celebrated the suffering with powerful symbols during the meal.  This certainly connected with my own experience of sharing with Jesus in his suffering as we journeyed through Holy Week.
