also be pleased to receive shop bought if baking’s not your thing!) They can be
left in the main kitchen in sealed containers from Friday morning. Please come

NEXT WEEK! St PAUL’S SCOUT GROUP CENTENARY Please come and celebrate with us over the weekend of 17th & 18th May.  The Scout Hall will be open 12 to 6 pm Saturday and 11 am to 2 pm Sunday then at 3 pm we will gather for a service of thanksgiving in St Paul’s with Peter, Bishop of Doncaster. Please let Murray know if you can come!

 

THANKSGIVING  Following Peter’s report on Church finances at our AGM last week, if anyone would like to join our Thanksgiving Scheme please speak to Peter for envelopes or a form for a standing order.

 

CHRISTIAN AID: MAY DAY TREK - MONDAY 5th MAY

As part of our fund-raising for Christian Aid Week (11-17 May), we will once again be participating in the May Day Trek. This year, it will be a new route of 5 miles starting and finishing at Bent’s Green Methodist Church. If you would like to take part please talk to Peter or e-mail peter@franklinphsl.plus.com

CHRISTIAN AID: STREET COLLECTION – 12th - 16th MAY Also part of our fund-raising for CA Week, we will once again be doing door to door collections for selected streets in our parish. Last year this raised over £800 so is an important element of our fund-raising. If you would like to help, please speak to Helen Franklin or e-mail to helen@franklinphsl.plus.com

QUIZAID will be held at the Cross Scythes on Tuesday 13th May from 7.30 pm.  Come along and test your brains over a pint and enjoy a great evening.  We also need prizes please!

Seekers will be selling buns, which they have decorated, in aid of Christian Aid, after the 10am service on Sunday 11th May.

M.U. IN MAY The St Paul’s meeting on Wed 14th May is cancelled owing to a Prayer Day on Tuesday 13th May.

 

AN EVENING WITH STUART TOWNEND - CHRIST CHURCH PITSMOOR on Tues 13th May at 7.45pm. GRAVES PARK WALK on Sunday 8th June at 9.30 am in aid of Parkinson’s UK. There’s a choice of routes to suit most people; booking forms in church. Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s. Please consider taking part to support the charity in finding a cure.

 

FOODBANK UPDATE  A busier week with 319 kg of food given out.  168kg came in of which 24 kg came from St Paul’s.  Robert was moved to meet someone who is a recovering alcoholic and rough sleeper who is being helped by a brilliant Christian charity.

 

W.I. OUTING On Wednesday 6th August, Norton Lees (St Paul’s) Women’s Institute is planning a trip which includes a two hour cruise on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal with lunch served on the boat. There will also be a stop on the way home for afternoon tea. There are still a few spaces left so why not come with a friend for a lovely day out? The price is £27.00 and includes coach fare, the canal trip and lunch but not afternoon tea. (Sorry, but ladies only please this time) – telephone Sylvia Sanderson on 0114 2582194 if you’d like to know more or to book a place. The coach will be leaving St Paul’s at 9.30 am and will arrive back in Sheffield about 6.00 pm.

From Murray  We had a good few days away last week in Kent visiting my Aunt.  The highlight was taking her to Sheffield Park in Sussex (a great place of course).  The gardens and lakes were breathtaking!
