A WARM WELCOME to the families and friends of children who are being baptised at St Paul’s today.

From Murray  As I write it is really cold and autumn seems to be on its way!  It might be the wind making it feel particularly cold, and it is due to warm up a bit by the end of the week, but there is certainly a change in the seasons marked by trees beginning to change their colour.  A few years ago we were in France at this time and they have a name for this time which is ‘Rentrer’ which means ‘coming back’ or re-entry, for  it is when people come back from holidays and start again at schools and colleges.  It does feel like a time of new beginnings. If nothing else it marks the beginning of the build up to Christmas!  What are the new beginnings and new challenges for you at this time and how might you share them with God and find his guidance and direction in them.  Might Contemplative Prayer on Tuesday evening this week be a time to mull things over or the prayer day on Saturday 13th September at Longshaw?

FOODBANK UPDATE  It was a slow session, Robert only saw 3 clients, but had more time to talk to them.  One man talked for half an hour about how he had once worked as a professional but had lost it after a breakdown and now needed Foodbank.  The next was a regular of Eastern European origin who has not had any benefits for 26 weeks due to changes in the system and is now in danger of losing his flat.  The next was suffering with cancer and had another sad story to tell.  All three were hard conversations for Robert.  The stats this week are 170 kg in (20kg from St Paul’s) and 200 kg out, 12 vouchers processed 20 people fed.
