Strange Art at the Cathedral!

From 23rd to 28th July there will be an artistic installation called a Luminarium in the forecourt of Sheffield Cathedral, which looks most intriguing!  It is perhaps a bit like a huge bouncy castle which you walk through! - made of plastic and held up by air pressure, you take off your shoes and wander through the wonderfully coloured tubes and domes.  Though a piece of art, it is also supposed to be a spiritual experience and there will be an act of worship and pilgrimage there at 7.30 pm on Sunday 24th July.  It costs £3.50 to go around and looks to be quite an experience!

VISION MORNING Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to our Vision Morning last Saturday.  We really welcome your ideas and suggestions, and appreciate your thoughts on how we can best achieve our aims as a church and embrace our community.

TEA AND LOVE FOR OUR COMMUNITY - INVITATION TO TLC Are you hurting and in need of some tlc? We would like to spoil you. Everyone needs a break. We are here Tuesdays from 2.30 to 3.30 pm at St.
Paul's Church, Norton Lees Lane. God cares for you - the stressed, unwell, the carers, the bereaved and anxious. We can offer you drinks, cakes, our company and compassion. Tel. 2557965 (Liz Warren) for more details

REMINDER! UPDATING OUR PARISH LIST Please check the list at the back of church and correct your contact details if necessary. If you are happy to be contacted by email please add your email address beside your telephone number. Thank you

1ST WEDNESDAY There are still spaces if anyone would like to join us for a visit to the Bakewell Pudding Shop on 3rd August. We will be setting off from church at 5.15pm. The cost of £16.00 includes a two course meal and making a Bakewell Pudding. Please let Jacqui know if you’re interested.

M.U. would like to thank everyone who supported their ‘Bring & Buy’ sale. They made £107 so thanks very much!
AFTERNOON TEA & ENTERTAINMENT at Holy Trinity Church (Millhouses) on Wed 24th Aug from 2 pm. Cost £3 to go to MU projects. Tickets from Jacqui & members, I need some cakes please!
THE BISHOP’S GARDEN PARTY From sales of toiletries, Ecclesall Deanery raised over £160 and M.U. raised £880.32 in total. The entry fee etc. took a total of £1,300 to be shared between M.U. and The Archer Project. Bishop Steven’s now given M.U. a further £650 to be divided between AFIA (Away from it all) and a Prison Play Area project. A grand total of £1,530.32 for M.U. causes is a brilliant result!

CHANGES TO CHAIROBICS Owing to Sheffield City Council funding cuts, the Thursday afternoon class here at St Paul’s is no longer run by Activity Sheffield. It is now run by, and for, local people. Following the announcement of cuts, members were very keen for this popular and very beneficial class to continue. With a little help from Activity Sheffield, Church members have formed a committee (Jacqui – Chairperson, Joan – Treasurer, and Liz Warren – Secretary) and taken over the administration & running of Chairobics. Members are delighted to have retained their instructor, Barbara Sharp and they are always happy to welcome new members. If you would like to join this friendly group for a fun workout, please speak to any of the committee members mentioned above. (There is now a small charge, but still great value.)

FOCUS FELLOWSHIP will not be meeting on Mondays throughout August.  They will resume on Monday 5th September. There will be no Focus Service in church on Sunday 7th Aug.

CREATIVE WORSHIP - “MESSY CHURCH” For your diary - The next family event will be Harvest Messy Church on Sat 15th October. Please let Pete or Ann know if you would like to be involved.
