A GREAT EVENING! .....was enjoyed by all the audience at St Paul’s on Sept. 8th, for the “Sheaf Singers” Concert, held in aid of our Zimbabwe charities.  Margaret Blakey and Ken Smith, - who is a member of the choir - worked hard to sell tickets for the event and succeeded magnificently. £500 was raised! Thank you to all who attended – and special thanks to those who provided cakes and/or made refreshments on the night, or helped in other ways.

ZIMBABWE: SENIOR CITIZENS SERVICE (The thank you below from Dave Gill sent on 1st September, is for a previous donation.)
Dear Murray and the congregation at St Paul’s
On behalf of all ‘our’ pensioners I would like to thank everyone for the most recent donation of $20 for SCS medical fund. It is only with the assistance of concerned citizens such as yourselves that we are able to continue to help our older folk.
Thank you once again and God bless,
Dave Gill - SCS administrator

Prayer Focus:  All those being confirmed on Wednesday -  the candidates from St Paul’s are Callum, Jordan and Gail, and Konrad who is being Received into the Church of England. There will be two other candidates from other churches.  And we also continue to pray for all who are ill or bereaved and those who care for them

From Murray: We had a great time on our holiday last week.  We stayed with Peter (who was my vicar when I was a curate) and his wife Helen who live in the South of France near Nice.  The weather broke a bit while we were there, it had been very hot but it cooled down and rained a bit (we are getting a bit of a reputation for finding rain on our holidays!!) However, the cooler weather made it easier to get about and visit places.

We had a meal in a village up in the mountains with Peter and Helen to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary which was lovely.  With Helen’s help in translation we managed to find gluten free food for me to eat and I was encouraged to find that I was able to do significantly more than I had been able to do when we were there last, 15 months ago.
