SENIOR CITIZENS SERVICE

Dear Murray and the Congregation at St Paul’s

Thank you for your very generous donation of $183.76 which was transferred yesterday for Senior Citizens Service medical account. With your continued support, thoughts and prayers it is gratifying to know that we are not alone in our quest of helping and assisting those less fortunate than ourselves. I can assure you that all expenditure and medicines are closely monitored by me and all donations are used to their maximum effect. God bless you for your support.

3rd SECTOR CAFÉ After our Christmas and New Year's break, the Third Sector Cafe is happy to be back! We have a host of cafe discussions planned for our 2013 programme, starting with a session on 'Steady and adaptable thinking when things get tough' on Thursday 17 January - please note: we'll be running this at a new time of 10 am till 12 noon. Please see Community folder for more information

Prayer Focus:

Your prayers are asked for people in need throughout the year. We are still collecting for the Food Bank based at Gleadless and there’s a box at the back of church for food. Thank you to all who continue to give; we should be hearing more about it at Family Service on 20th January. Robert would like us to pray for the new Heeley Food Bank that he intends helping out at, which was inspired by the Gleadless one.

From Murray  Looking back.

A big thank you to everyone who made our Christmas Services a great success again this year – thanks especially to those who brought family and friends along to our events.  Looking at the attendance figures, we had a few less people at our main Carol Service on 16th December – though having it a week early because of the way Christmas fell could have put a few people off.  The Christmas Eve Family Carol Service was also a bit down on numbers (only about 286!), but we made up for all this with the numbers of people who came to the Carols at the Cross Scythes evening.  It was a great night and people are thinking about how to develop the links we have begun!

Looking forward
What does 2013 hold for you?  I think we were a bit spoilt last year with the Jubilee and the Olympics!  The news this year is pretty gloomy with a prediction that the cuts will get worse before we see any real progress.  But faith gives another perspective and purpose in life.  We serve a Lord who transcends the difficulties which get us down and we know that serving him has an eternal significance far beyond what any gove
