SCOUT GROUP CENTENARY The 46th Sheffield St Paul’s Scout Group
celebrates its centenary in 2014. Were you or one of your family or friends
part of the group at any point? If so, Terry Biglands would love to hear from you
in connection with the planned celebrations. You can contact Terry on 2551979.
Events planned include
an Open Weekend at the Scout Hall, Welby Place (probably mid-May 2014) and also
a service with Bishop Peter.
Prayer Focus:
We continue to pray for all
who are ill and those who care for them
Robert asks us to pray
for the Food Bank volunteers to have the strength to listen without judgement,
and to be supportive and demonstrate understanding. He asks us to pray that the
volunteers will feel able to put the problems they hear about into God’s hands,
and should not feel that they have to shoulder them alone. Pray also that the
difficulties being experienced by the people using the Food Banks will soon be
alleviated.

From Murray
On
Saturday Peter, Liz and I braved the snow to attend a meeting about how the
Diocese organises its finances. (The
snow was melting fast, the sun was beautiful and there was a good turn
out!) The meeting was a consultation
about various ways of working out how churches contribute to the costs of the
Diocese – which are mainly the training, employment and support of the
clergy. Bishop Steven gave a great talk
about God’s grace and generosity and our response. Helen Bent and others lead some moving
worship and it was good to see the Diocesan finance team in the flesh and clearly
wrestling with the issues of how to serve God faithfully in the task they are
called to – an encouraging morning!
