CHURCH BBQ This year’s Summer BBQ is
on Friday 30th August at 7.00 pm. Tickets £4.00 from Liz Warren,
Margaret Blakey and Barbara Hanson. Please let us know your food requirements
(Beef burgers, Lamb burgers, Pork Steaks, Sausages, with Salads and Bread) by filling
in the form on the bottom half of your ticket, and then hand it to Liz,
Margaret or Barbara. Remember to bring your own drinks and for any special
requirements, please see Liz. We hope you can come and look forward to seeing
you!
GAS BARBEQUE Does anyone have a spare Calor Gas
bottle that they don't need? Church has been given a Gas Barbecue, 1 kind
person has donated a gas bottle but it would be good to have a spare which we
can always keep full so we'll be confident of not running out half way through
an event. Please have a word with Ken or Liz. Thank you
LAVENDER If anyone would like some lavender, please help
yourself from the border by the oak door. It will help the gardeners if you
could cut it back well, please.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES: PRAYER DAY 2013 On Saturday 14th September from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, St
Paul’s will be holding a Prayer Day “Meeting
God in the Natural World” at Longshaw Moorland Discovery Centre (which is close
to Fox House on the A6187 Hathersage to Owler Bar Road, or can be found on your
Sat Nav at S11 7TZ).
The cost is
£5.00 each, (as long as 18 people attend the day). This includes drinks, but
not lunch or car parking. The day will include time for silent prayer and will
end with a simple Communion Service.
Because there is only one room, we are very sorry, but it will not be
possible to provide separate activities for children. If you think you might be
interested, please complete a form
and give it to Murray today. Thank you

M.U. Mothers’ Union Sunday on 8th
September is a day of prayer for the work of the Mothers’ Union. Please pray
for our work and ministry in our diocese and throughout the world. Please also note: St Paul’s & St James’ M.U. AGM is coming up soon on Wednesday
11th September.
Diaries & calendars for 2014 can now be
ordered. Please see Jacqui as soon as possible.
“MIDSUMMER MAGIC” FLORAL DEMONSTRATION The event raised a brilliant £141.70 towards St Paul’s Flower Fund. Many
thanks to Liz Edwards for a lovely evening. Please see the leaflets in the MP for
“Derbyshire Delights” at St Peter’s Church, Edensor, this week from Saturday 10th
to Sunday 18th August from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. Cost £4
THE NAVE WINDOWS Murray has now heard from the Church
Burgesses. They have agreed to meet us half way with the amount that we
requested in our first bid for a grant, and suggested we approach the Diocese
for matched funding (a further £2,500.) It’s looking as if we will be able to
get the worst affected window repaired before winter comes, but we will still
need to forge ahead with applications for funding for the remaining
windows.
CHRISTMAS! If you are interested in
joining a bell ringing team to perform at the Christmas Tree Festival on Sat 23rd
Nov, please contact Jacqui. Date for
your diary: there will be
another planning meeting for the Christmas Tree Festival on Mon 9th Sept
in the Old Vestry at 2.30 pm. Come and help to make it a really special
weekend. Bishop Steven will be joining us at our 10 o’clock service on Sun 24th
Nov, so please remember to put the above dates in your diaries!
