More from Murray
Please think of me this week as I
will be away on retreat! The point of
the retreat is to have just over three days in silence when we can meet with
God in a deeper way without the demands and distractions of daily life. Each day we have short services morning and
evening and about half an hour with the retreat director to talk over what has
been going on. Just now I feel a little
apprehensive knowing that there will be struggles as well as joys but I look
forward to returning with a renewed sense of God’s call to ministry and, I hope,
with a greater sense of what my priorities should be in the coming year.
Those who are to be
Confirmed on Monday evening 23rd September
I am pretty sure that there will be
four people from St Paul’s who will be Confirmed this year. Please pray for Jon, Glynis, Russell and
Charlie and be there to support them at St James’ Church that evening. In preparation for this Russell is going to
be Baptised in our 10 am Communion service on Sunday 8th
September. I gave him the choice of
being Baptised by Bishop Peter Burrows at his Confirmation but he chose St Paul’s so
that he could be amongst his Christian family, and who was I to stand in his
way!
Back to Church
Sunday – 29th September at 10.00 am
The invitation cards are now out for
this important service when we are encouraged to invite people to join us for
worship. It will be a Morning Worship service
(without Communion) and I will be preaching.
You will need to fill in the details of the date and time to give to those
you invite and keep the back of the card as a reminder of who you have invited
so that you can pray for them. Following
the service I will start another Questions! Questions! series on Wednesday 9th
October at 7.30 pm in Church.
CHURCH
BBQ This year’s Summer BBQ is on Friday 30th August at 7.00 pm.

your own drinks and for any special requirements, please see Liz. We hope you
can come and look forward to seeing you!
PRAYER
DAY 2013 On Saturday 14th September from 10.00
am to 4.00 pm, St Paul’s will be holding a Prayer Day “Meeting God in the Natural World” at Longshaw Moorland Discovery

prayer and will end with a simple Communion Service.

Mike’s Ministry:
Sun 18th
– St Paul’s 8.00 am H.C., Hilsborough Tabernacle & Beauchief Abbey
From Murray
Last
week we went down to Sevenoaks for a few days.
My Aunt is having to move to a new care home so Ann got her ready for the move. The first day was forecast to be sunny and
warm so we went down to the south coast to Hastings and Bexhill where Molly
used to go with her husband and with my Mum and me. It was one of those glorious days which you
wish would go on for ever. I was able to
push Molly in her wheelchair to the beach we used to visit and then we had a
cup of tea by the De La Warr Pavillion!
