Those who are to be Confirmed on Monday evening 23^rd September

There will be three people from St Paul’s who will be Confirmed this year.  Please pray for Jon, Glynis and Russell and be there to support them at St James’ Church that evening.  In preparation for this Russell is going to be Baptised in our 10 am Communion service on Sunday 8^th September.  I gave him the choice of being Baptised by Bishop Peter Burrows  at his Confirmation but he chose St Paul’s so that he could be amongst his Christian family, and who was I to stand in his way!

BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY – 29^TH SEPTEMBER AT 10.00 AM The invitation cards are now out for this important service when we are encouraged to invite people to join us for worship.  It will be a Morning Worship service (without Communion) and Murray will be preaching.  You will need to fill in the details of the date and time to give to those you invite and keep the back of the card as a reminder of who you have invited so that you can pray for them.  Following the service Murray will start another Questions! Questions! Series on Wednesday 9^th October at 7.30 pm in Church.

PRAYER DAY 2013 On Saturday 14^th September from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, St Paul’s will be holding a Prayer Day “Meeting God in the Natural World” at Longshaw Moorland Discovery Centre (which is close to Fox House on the A6187 Hathersage to Owler Bar Road, or can be found on your Sat Nav at S11 7TZ). The cost is £5.00 each: this includes drinks, but not lunch or car parking. The day will include time for silent prayer and will end with a simple Communion Service.

FROM GAIL If anyone can come to support Gail when she is authorised as a parish evangelist at Doncaster Minster on Saturday 21^st September at 11am, please let Gail know as she is thinking about getting a coach and sharing with St Chad's, depending on numbers. Gail would also like to thank everyone for their help, support, encouragement and prayers as she has been training. If anyone wants to know about her training, Gail will be very happy to share more.

SING TAIZE! Take time from the busyness of life and join us for a quiet, simple, reflective hour of Taize music and prayer on 1^st September and 10^th November, both sessions at 6.30 pm at St John’s Abbeydale. Please see posters in church.

M.U. COMING SOON - MOTHERS’ UNION SUNDAY on 8^th September is a day of prayer for the work of the Mothers’ Union. Please pray for our work and ministry in our diocese and throughout the world.

SHEFFIELD CATHEDRAL HERITAGE DAY on Saturday 14^th September from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm. There will be Tudor Musicians playing and children’s activities. Special walkways will enable visitors to see the alterations and developments to the Cathedral. Come and support your Diocesan Mothers’ Union. M.U. members – please see Jacqui if you can help with hospitality for a while? (Serving refreshments on the produce stall, as well as baking scones and cakes.) Please also note: unfortunately, this is the same date as our Prayer Day at Longshaw.

Non -members will be made very welcome at the next meeting on Wednesday 4^th September at 7.30 pm in the OV (there will be a £2.00 charge for non-members.)
