ST PAUL’S RETREAT 6th to 8th OCTOBER  A few people have said they’d like to go. Murray will meet with those interested in coming on the retreat, on Monday 28th July at 7.30 pm in the Meeting Place.

RIDE AND STRIDE - 13th SEPTEMBER This is a sponsored event for Yorkshire Historic Churches.  We have been asked to have the church open for people to visit that day and provide refreshments.  It requires a team of people to cover the day. (It’s the same day as the next Prayer Day at Longshaw.)  Please see Murray if you can help.

FIRST WEDNESDAY GROUP  on August 13th – We will be going to Barlow Welldressing & leaving church at 6.00 pm.

THE CHANGING SCENES OF LIFE An autobiographical collection of short, true stories by Revd. Bruce Lloyd
Bruce’s book is an interesting mixture of thoughtful and humorous lessons from life and ministry. The proceeds will go to Sheffield Church of the Nazarene Building Fund for the redevelopment of the church. Please take a look at the sample book on the bookcase: price £8.00 for the A4 book. Copies available from St Paul’s office Tuesday to Thursday 9.00 am to 2.00 pm – cheques to be made payable to:  Rev B Lloyd (Expenses).  Also obtainable for £5.00 for PDF file available via transfer to your laptop/ tablet/ phone from SanDisk micro card or USB memory stick- please email Bruce at bandslloyd@blueyonder.co.uk

CHURCH ROTAS Readers will have copies of readings for their duty at HC Services at 8 and 10 o’clock with their paper copy of the church rota, but if you’re reading at Baptism or FW you will need to pick a copy up on the day.

M.U. IN AUGUST  2014

2.30 pm – cost £3.00. I have booked for 12 so please let me know if you are going.  Tel.  Jacqui on 2554379

CAR PARKING You may’ve noticed that there are new  yellow lines which are limiting parking at St Paul’s, just by the bus stop outside church. This has been reported to Amey who have indicated it may be a few weeks before the mistake is rectified & the additional lines painted out.

DIOCESAN DEVELOPMENT DAY 2014 -- A FESTIVAL OF PRAYER The Development Day for 2014 takes place on Sat 4th Oct  9.30am–3.30pm at St Thomas Church, Philadelphia Campus, Sheffield.  The day-long event will be a Festival of Prayer, with workshops. See church noticeboards for more information.  Let Murray know if you would like to go.

REGISTER TO VOTE We all need to be registered in order to vote – please see the letter from John Tomlinson on the notice board about an upcoming major change in voter registration.  To have a voice in the way things are run, you must ensure you take action to ensure you’re on the new electoral register.

PEEKABOO & SUNNY DAYS Peekaboo has now finished for the Summer. Please contact Helen, Gemma or Claire (Contact Details in “What’s on at St Paul’s”)  if you can help with toy washing for a couple of hours during the holidays on Wednesday 20th August at about 10 am. If you are a Mum needing some advice or peer support during the break, Sunny Days Post Natal Support group will be here as usual on Monday afternoons during the Summer Holidays except for Mon 25th Aug (Bank Holiday.) Please phone Sara McClean at Sheffield Home Start on 2788377

FOODBANK UPDATE :  Can you help by donating your old school uniforms?  Preloved Uniform helps lower income families. School clothes, shoes, coats, PE kits for ages  4 – 18 yrs are needed.  If you can help with donations or would like to volunteer, please visit the website www.preloveduniform.org.uk  or phone 2369579 between  4.30 and 7.30 pm weekdays or see Robert in church.
TESCO FOODBANK COLLECTION People’s generosity has been fantastic – 1.7 tons of food were collected.  The Gleadless Valley Foodbank itself was very busy this week (Friday 11th July) with 142 kg. of food coming in and
480 kg. going out. St Paul’s contribution to this was 29 kg. Food was distributed to 25 families with vouchers. One man had been in hospital for a week getting treatment for his Crohn’s disease & liver problems, and his benefits were stopped, meaning he had no money for food when he was discharged. A neighbour helped him out a little and from then on, he’s had to rely on the Foodbank. If you’re wondering what to bring - toilet rolls, shower gel, shampoo, & washing up liquid etc. are all in short supply.

Mike’s Ministry
Fri 18th – Sun 20th – CMA National Rally at Evesham
Sun 27th – St Paul’s 10.00 am H.C.
