A WARM WELCOME to the families and friends of Henry John Bridgeman Briggs, Thomas Noah Burns and Charlotte Elizabeth Booth who are being baptised in church today.

FROM MURRAY  I had an unexpected treat last Wednesday when I took a small donation to St. Wilfred’s Centre on Queen’s Road.  Kevin their director took me round and it is really impressive to see how they have developed in the ten or so years since I last visited.  The cellars downstairs have been turned into a series of workshop where people who would not otherwise be able to work are able to make things which are sold in the shop – all very good quality.  Upstairs there are also many more activities and opportunities to learn and develop.  They have raised a million pounds towards a new development to provide a residential wing – but they have another £1.8 M to raise!

THE CHANGING SCENES OF LIFE An autobiographical collection of short, true stories by Revd. Bruce Lloyd
Bruce’s book is an interesting mixture of thoughtful and humorous lessons from life and ministry. The proceeds will go to Sheffield Church of the Nazarene Building Fund for the redevelopment of the church. Please take a look at the sample book on the bookcase: price £8.00 for the A4 book (Copies available from St Paul’s office Tuesday to Thursday
9.00 am to 2.00 pm – cheques to be made payable to:  Rev B Lloyd (Expenses).  Also obtainable for £5.00 for PDF file available via transfer to your laptop/tablet/phone from SanDisk micro card or USB memory stick (please email Bruce at bandslloyd@blueyonder.co.uk )

ST PAUL’S RETREAT 6th to 8th OCTOBER  A few people have said they would like to go, so Murray will meet with anyone interested in coming on the retreat, on Monday evening 28th July at 7.30 pm in the Meeting Place.

PREACHING TRAINING MORNING  On Sat 19th July from 10am to 12pm Toby will be leading a preaching workshop for people at his church and is welcoming others within the Deanery.  Please see Murray if you are interested.

RIDE AND STRIDE 13th SEPTEMBER  This is a sponsored event for Yorkshire Historic Churches.  We have been asked to have the church open for people to visit that day and provide refreshments.  It requires a team of people to cover the day. It is the same day as the next Prayer Day at Longshaw.  Please see Murray if you can help.

DIOCESAN DEVELOPMENT DAY 2014
- A FESTIVAL OF PRAYER
The Development Day for 2014 will take place on Saturday 4 October, 9.30am–3.30pm at St Thomas Church, Philadelphia Campus, Sheffield.  The day-long event will be a Festival of Prayer, with workshops centring on this theme.   See church noticeboards for more information.

A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM DAVID WARSOP   Jill and I would like to thank everyone at church for the cards, love and support we've received from many friends at St Paul's after the death of my Mum.
